La ruina de Constantinopla, tan funesta como previsible, constituyó una gran victoria para los turcos, pero también el final de Grecia y la deshonra de los latinos. Por ella, la fe católica fue atacada, la religión confundida, el nombre de Cristo insultado y envilecido. De los dos ojos de la cristiandad, uno quedó ciego; de sus dos manos, una fue cortada. Con las bibliotecas quemadas y los libros destruidos, la doctrina y la ciencia de los griegos, sin las que nadie se podría considerar sabio, se desvaneció.
Finalmente, el imperio romano había caído de forma definitiva, ya no podría nunca más renacer de sus cenizas, porque éstas habían sido esparcidas por los aires, desintegrándose para siempre.
Como gran coincidencia, hoy tambien es martes 29 de mayo, como aque martes 29 de mayo de 1453, en q la luz del mundo dejo de brillar para siempre, hoy estamos de duelo, vistamonos de negro, recordando a hombres valientes q murieron por su fe y su Dios, a pesar de q todo estaba perdido, dios los tenga en su gloria.
