En una reciente discusión en un sitio de charlas, un chicano discutía airadamente sobre la situación de los inmigrantes latinos en los Estados Unidos, expresaba su descontento por el mal trato que se les daba y por las pocas atenciones que tenían para con ellos.
Mi respuesta fue la siguiente: Compadre, si mal los tratan no es por menos. ¿Cómo tratarías tú al intruso que entrara por detrás de tu casa y te invadiera un pedazo de tu terreno, plantándose en él? ¿Lo tratarías igual que al que te toca la puerta y te pide posada?
Intempestivamente cortó conversación. Silencio otorga.
Lógico… Los ciudadanos del norte y sur de Rio Grande deberían entenderse en este asunto. Para ello, lo primero es renunciar a toda pretensión territorial. Retocar fronteras da mala suerte. Culturalmente son integrables… ¡Ya quisieran muchos países europeos que tener esos inmigrantes!
