Hombre, a lo mejor debería haber escrito corriente en vez de ordinario, pero lo escrito, escrito está… Al grano. Leí esto en Gates of Vienna:
The other day I stumbled onto a site that opened a window into the world of the ordinary Muslim. It’s the Haj Committee of India, the official website for pilgrims looking to make their obligatory pilgrimage to Mecca.
Es decir, el sitio del Comité para la Peregrinación a La Meca de la India tiene una serie de recomendaciones a los peregrinos que dicen mucho sobre como vive el musulmán corriente y moliente. La conclusión del Baron Bodissey, autor del post, es la siguiente:
I tell you, the Haj Committee did more for me than all the pronouncements emerging from interfaith prayer breakfasts, all the “religion of peace” cant, and all the “we are the world” codswallop that saturates the airwaves.
It doesn’t make Muslims any less strange to me, but it does give me a glimpse into their common humanity.
En dos palabras: Este sitio me ha hecho ver la humanidad de los musulmanes mejor que todos los llamamientos a desayunos-oración interconfesionales, todas las cantilenas sobre “la religión de la paz”…
Señor Baron, con la venia, para ese viaje (¿a la Meca?) no hacían falta estas alforjas (¿alforjas? Hombre, una palabra del legado andalusí… gracias). Pues claro que son hombres, a quienes reconocemos los derechos humanos universales (que ellos desprecian por occidentales), a pesar de que ellos nos ponen a nosotros, los “infieles”, a la altura de la mierda (dispensando), literalmente.
¿Demonizarlos? Nunca, no se trata de eso. En todo caso ridiculizarlos, como decíamos aquí. Pero el Baron renuncia a eso:
It would be easy to make fun of this material, with its quirky English and accounts of arcane practices. But instead I’ll look at the insights it can give into the efforts of ordinary people for the sake of their religious devotion.
Nosotros no, veamos:
Be it known to all the concerned that any extra amount charged by any institution or individual shall not facilitate the Pilgrim concerned for any preferential treatment. Pilgrims are, therefore, warned that they should not fall prey to the appeals of any such elements.
En plata: los mecanos estafan a los peregrinos como se descuiden. En realidad todo el viaje a la meca es un timo. Concesión de Mojamé a los mecanos, para que no pedieran el negocio… La estafa fue un delito demasiado complicado, a lo que se ve, para el entendimiento del Profeta, por eso se quedó sin penalizar.
The Haj Committee reminds the pilgrims that Saudi Arabia is not India, and that they do things differently there: 37. Do not visit Jeddah without informing or taking clearance from your Moallims. You may be caught and send to jail.
¿? Jeddah es la ciudad liberal de Arabia saudí… imagino que prefieren que los pobres peregrinos no vean semejante exhibición de opulencia decadente… o que se mezclen con los “infieles”. A saber.
41. Do not carry opium, marijuana, brown sugar, sleeping pills, liquor or drug with you. These are banned in Saudi Arabia and invoke the death penalty.
¿Tampoco los analgésicos son islámicos? ¿Tampoco el azúcar morena?
